I’m not quite sure what to make of the fact that we used a couple of bottles of this product with no ill effect, but the most recent bottle has been the most revolting disaster imaginable. All of our clothing, linens, towels, etc., now smells disgustingly like mildewed fish. So does our high-efficiency washing machine, which we are trying to de-stink. My daughter’s clothes closet smells so atrocious that we can hardly look inside. We are presently rewashing all of our clothes in Tide to try to render our house liveable. Obviously we will never try this product again.

We have used Ecos Free and Clear laundry detergent for several years. My son is allergic to the traditional detergents as well as detergents with perfumes/scents. We tried several other “green” detergents before we settled on Ecos. Not only is it mild on clothes, but it cleans well.

I’ve been really pleased with the detergent so far, and it lasts FOREVER. I do all the laundry for our family of four, and the pack of four lasted us for over a year. I just ordered our second 4-pack and may not have to order again until early 2011. We do about 8 loads per week in a front loader, and it has cleaned well for us. Our two kids aren’t little anymore, so we don’t have the same dirt and food (and other) stains that we used to have, so I can’t comment on how this does with really dirty laundry.

This actually works as advertised. It’s a better detergent than the usual cleaners, leaves clothes bright, soft without using added fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Definitely pre-treat grease-oil spots on clothing first, it’s not likely to get them out otherwise. Very worth using, economical as a Subscription. I won’t get caught without it because after using it, commercial detergents smell hellish with perfume and they don’t dissolve anywhere as well as Ecos does.

It is great that this is an eco-friendly detergent and that it is super concentrated but after several attempts (hot, warm, cold, small load, large load, darks, lights) I have to say this stuff does not work very well. It does not get stains out or remove dirt completely. In comparison, Seventh Generation and Planet detergents both work far better and cost about the same.
